Is it OK to eat ice cream while you are having a cold or even a mild bronchitis?

some people says it's OK,because the ice cream helps to sooth your throat and stuff,but on the other hand don't you think is kind of awkward to eat ice cream when you body is dealing with a cold or bronchitis.what's your opinion?thanks in advance.
