Derive the equation of motion for a pendulum?

Let's take a simple pendulum consisting of a shaft and a weight attached to the end. Now, move the point of rotation down the shaft. How would this alter the equation of motion for the pendulum? Would this change the location of the center of gravity as well? Thanks!
