Do dogs go to Heaven?

My dog died and I am really sad about it. I am very close to god but I never had the chance to ask where animals go when they die. Do the go to heaven? is there an animal kingdom. Surely god does not make them nothing. So just a real quick question. I just want to know how Sammy is doing, thanks. :(
